The Medical Ethicist is responsible for the oversight and co-chairing of the Agrace Ethics Committee. The Agrace Ethics Committee serves the entire Agrace community by encouraging and supporting ethical reflection, mutually respectful dialogue, critical analysis and, most importantly, standards of conduct which reflect this agency’s commitment to providing patients with quality of life at the end of life.
For 40 years, Agrace has been a nonprofit, community based health care agency dedicated to providing expert physical, emotional and spiritual support to patients and families through the stages of serious illness. Agrace HospiceCare is nationally recognized for the comprehensive hospice services we provide throughout south central Wisconsin and north central Illinois.
Responsibilities for the Medical Ethicist position include, but are not limited to, ethics consultation, acting as a co-chair of the ethics committee and expert on current ethical issues. This role will develop ethics education for staff and providers and develop new and review current policies, procedures, and practices to support ethical behavior, pertinent laws, regulations, and Agrace standards. Ideal candidates will possess ability to develop, maintain, and apply knowledge of hospice and end-of-life process as well as maintain professional boundaries with patients, families and co-workers.
