  • Overview

    The Seasonal Horticulture Assistant, under the supervision of the Horticulturist, is responsible for assisting staff and volunteers in all phases of Agrace garden maintenance and development at both the Madison and Janesville locations to provide beautiful grounds for our patients, visitors, staff, and volunteers. 

     

     

     

    Responsibilities

    1. Assists in maintenance and design of Madison and Janesville patient room patio landscaping.
    2. Assists in maintenance of Agrace gardens, courtyards, and landscaped areas.
    3. Leads volunteer groups including kitchen garden team, general gardeners, one-time groups, etc.

    Horticulture Assistant roles are for 15 hours/week from May - September.  Hours will typically be scheduled M-F between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., schedule may vary based on project work and weather.  Some weekend shifts may be needed depending on volunteer group needs.

    Qualifications

     

    1. High School or Trade School diploma or equivalent.
    2. Experienced gardener with demonstrated horticulture knowledge including plant identification/care and garden design; minimum of 1 year of experience preferred.

     

     

    This position is a driving position and requires a valid driver’s license; access to a vehicle and must maintain automobile insurance that meets the minimum required by the State of Wisconsin.
